U.S. Lineup Named for New York Open

Two-time Senior World Team member Nick Yonezuka will return to fight for the U.S. at the New York Open on April 13.

(Colorado Springs, CO) – The New York Open will bring together six of the top judo nations in the world to participate in a mixed team tournament on April 13 at the New York Athletic Club.

The U.S. lineup features some of the sport’s top young athletes taking on teams from Canada, Poland, Germany, Israel and Great Britain.

The U.S. squad includes three women and four men with a wealth of experience representing Team USA at the Senior, Junior and Cadet World Championships.

Johan Silot Suse (Salem, MA / NYAC / Pedro’s Judo Center), 2023 USA Judo Senior National Champion

Alex Semenenko (Staten Island, NY / New York Athletic Club), 2023 Junior World Team member

Women’s 48 kg
Anat Tsyrlin (Fair Lawn, NJ / Colton Brown Training Center), 2018 Junior Pan Am Team member

Women’s 57 kg
Noran Elmahroukey (New Providence, NJ / NYAC / Colton Brown Training Center), 2023 USA Judo Senior National Champion

Women’s 70 kg
Nancy Nguyen (San Jose, CA / San Jose State University Judo), 2023 USA Judo Senior Nationals bronze medalist

Elmahroukey and Yonezuka are each returning members of the U.S. team that won silver at the 2023 New York Open.
