USA Judo Offers Support to Referees Working at the 2008 Junior Olympics at Walt Disney World!

As all of you know, USA Judo will be hosting the annual Junior Olympics Championships at Disney World in Orlando, Florida July 25-27. The event will be held at Coronado Springs Resort within Disney World. The hotel headquarters also will be at Coronado Springs.

This year USA Judo has added an International Division which will be contested on Sunday, July 27 with the National Junior Olympics competitions been held on Friday and Saturday. Already, many international junior teams have registered for this event.

In order to continue the support that USA Judo has been providing our referees this year, USA Judo is announcing that it will be providing free double occupancy rooms to all N-2 or higher referees wishing to work these National Championships. The referees will be housed at Coronado Springs Resort where the actual competition will be held. So far the number of pre-event reservations at the headquarter hotel projects the largest turn-out of competitors in recent years.

If you wish to work these Junior Olympic Championships at Disney you are asked to please call USA Judo National Office and speak with Alyssa Johnson  (tel. 719.866.4730 or direct line 719.866.3684) or you may write to her at JohnsonA@usajudo.us. When you call please let Alyssa know your choice of roommate and she will try to accommodate you. She also will give you the information on airport transportation. Please let Alyssa know if you are able to work Sunday’s International competitions as well. USA Judo will have rooms available Thursday- Sunday and for those wishing to stay and work the event on Sunday and may not be able to leave Sunday they will have some rooms available as well. Please arrange that with Alyssa when you call or write to her.

Presently, USA Judo is planning on running six competition mats so your support for this event is highly needed and appreciated by everyone. Please contact Alyssa at the National Office by July 8 so that they can set up your reservation and ground transportation on a timely basis.  National referees who are not eligible as on-mat referees are reminded that your assistance as technical officials is highly sought and valued.  The Referee Commission grants credit which fulfills one's annual participation requirement for such work.
