USA Judo Board of Director Nominations Due July 3!

Now that we have completed the Olympic Trials and have a short break until the Junior Olympics in Orlando, I wanted to reach out to the USA Judo community to remind all of you that this year is an election year. As such, the organization’s annual meeting will be held prior to the U.S. Open on Sept. 25 in Colorado Springs and will include the elections of members of a new Board of Directors.

The nomination and election information has been out since June 1 and the deadline for our members to submit nominations is July 3. USA Judo has made many great strides and gone through a lot of changes in these last three years. The Board that will be elected this coming September 25 during the National USA Judo Assembly will lead this organization into a new Olympic quadrennium.

The upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing I am sure will bring more good news to the sport and the organization. Our athletes have worked for four long years to represent us in these upcoming Olympic Games. In September, the organization will select the Board that will define the vision of this Olympic sport for the London 2012 Games. It is my hope that all of our members do take a minute to read over the nomination procedures as well as the election procedures and send the Chair of the nominating committee the names of those who they feel may serve the sport and the organization well over the next four years.

All final nominees who will be up for election will be posted on www.usjudo.org by July 28.

I hope all members of USA Judo take a minute to review the nominating procedures as well as the election procedure and take an active role in the further growth and development of judo in the United States.
