Junior Worlds 48kg, 52kg and +100kg Results Blog

11:30 a.m. (All Mountain Time): Franchesca Durand (Coral Springs, Fla. / North Miami USA Judo National Training Site / 52kg) won her first round over 2006 Asian Junior silver medalist Hui-Shan Hsiao (TPE) by waza-ari and a shido. Waza-ari was scored on a left o uchi.

11:34 a.m. Aaron Shiosaki (Lomita, Calif. / Gardena Judo +100kg) lost his first match to Lukas Stupavsky (SVK) in three seconds off a drop seoi nage. 

11:58 a.m. Durand will meet Yamilka Del Valle (CUB) in the second round.

12:08 p.m. Jeanette Rodriguez (Margate, Fla. / North Miami USA Judo National Training Site / 48kg) won her first round against Merys Mejia (DOM) by sankaku for ippon.

12:55 p.m. Durand lost to Del Valle on a koka in Golden Score.

12:56 p.m. Rodriguez threw Shelimar Brisyo (PUR) in 33 seconds with a left seoi nage.

1:34 p.m. Rodriguez counters Alexandra Podryadova (KAZ)'s counter in a quarter-final golden score for yuko to advance to the semis. 

1:36 p.m. Maureen Groefsema (NED) beat Del Valle in the quarter-finals, eliminating Durand from competition. 

1:39 p.m.  Rodriguez will fight Shugen Wu (CHN) in the semis.

5:51 p.m. Rodriguez lost to Wu 3 minutes, 26 seconds into golden score on a left seoinage for yuko.

6:15 p.m. Ridriguez loses to Shoko Ibe (JPN) in the bronze medal match to finish fifth.
