Junior Worlds 57kg, 63kg, 90kg and 100kg Results Blog
11:07 a.m. (All Mountain Time): Ronda Rousey (Santa Monica, Calif. / NYAC) beat Lauren Baverstock (GBR) by ippon in just over a minute in the first round of 63kg by juji gatame.
11:10 a.m.Jake Larsen (Santa Rosa, Calif. / Redwood Judo) won his first match against Carlos Ruiz (MEX), yuko to koka.
12:05 p.m. Hannah Martin (Burnt Hills, Calif. / Jason Morris Judo Center / 57kg) beat Zayra Laguna (NCA) by ippon in the first 30 seconds.
12:41 p.m. Rousey beat Iroda Abdurahmanova (UZE) by ippon via armbar in less than a minute.
12:43 p.m. Larsen lost to Tentore Masmanidis (GRE) in the second round by two waza-aris (second on a pin) and a pair of kokas. Masmanidis must upset Ali Mohammadnia (IRI) to pull Larsen through to the repechage.
12:53 p.m. Martin lost to Tajda Ketis (SLOV) in 2:18... pin for ippon.
1:30 p.m. Rousey scored a yuko and then armbarred Ninette Kakonyi (HUN) in 29 seconds to advance to tonight's semi-final against Aldama Onix Cortes (CUB).
1:49 p.m. Martin moves down to the repechage after Ketis won Pool B. Martin will fight the winner of Kristie-Anne Ryder (AUS) vs. Kaori Matsumoto (JPN).
1:54 p.m. Masmanidis (GRE) beat Mohammadnia (IRI), moving Larsen into the repechage to fight Mohammadnia.
2:11 p.m. Zane Malloy (Oak Harbor, Wash. / NAS Whidbey Judo / 100kg) lost by ippon to Alius Braciulis (LTU) who then won the pool, advancing Malloy to the repechage against Dmitriy Renev (RUS).
2:37 p.m. Martin will fight Matsumoto in the repechage.
2:38 p.m. Larsen lost to Mohammadnia by ippon in 22 seconds to finish ninth.
2:44 p.m. Malloy lost to Dmitriy Renev (RUS) in the repechage... thrown with seoi nage for ippon in 28 seconds to finish ninth.
2:49 p.m. Martin lost to Matsumoto by a yuko in the repechage.
4:40 p.m. Rousey lost to Cuba in the semi-finals... koka morotegari followed by another morotegari for ippon.
