Gotay Defeats Russia and Japan at World Team Championships

Valerie Gotay (Harlingen, Texas / Harlingen USA Judo National Training Site) posted an undefeated record at Saturday's World Championships by Team of Nation in Paris, France with wins over Russia and Japan.   Annie Shiraishi (Elk Grove, Calif. / Okubo / East Bay Judo Institute) also posted a win for the Americans, defeating Russia in the repechage.  

Team USA went 1-6 against Japan in the first round of the team event and 2-5 against Russia in the repechage.
