2007 Kindai Cup Results

Four junior athletes competed over the weekend in the Kindai Cup, a team event in Tokyo that drew nearly 200 teams of athletes between 13 and 15-years-old.

Three-time Pan American Infantile Champion Marina Lambert (Chesapeake, Va. / Washington Judo / 81kg) was one of the only female athletes who competed in the tournament.  Lambert’s 2006 Pan Am Infantile teammate Preston Quam (Oceanside, Calif. / San Shi) and Yan Kafarskiy (Richmond Hill, N.Y.) each competed in the 66kg division while 2006 Kindai Cup Team member Kevin Duarte (Baldwin Park, Calif. / Mojica Judo Club) fought in the Open division.  Tony Mojica (Baldwin Park, Calif. / Mojica Judo Club) served as the team’s coach.

Although the U.S. Team was at a disadvantage with only four competitors, the squad did post a first-round team tie, but did not advance past the second round.

Following the Kindai Cup, the team competed in a friendship tournament on the second day, earning five match wins in the process.
