Anthony Turner Wins Silver, Harry St. Leger Takes Bronze in Cuba

 

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Judo Teams each placed third overall on Thursday at the conclusion of the two-day Jose Ramon Rodriguez and Golden Judoguis Tournaments in Havana.

After a day and a half of competition in which the United States earned two bronze and a silver medal, the men finished strong on Thursday evening with two more trips to the podium.   

Anthony Turner (Miami, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami) improved on his bronze medal finish in the +100kg division in the 2007 tournament with a silver medal. 

Harry St. Leger (Brooklyn, N.Y. / NYAC / Legrosports Starrett) won his first B-Level medal outside of North America in the 81kg division where he placed third.

Antonio Rodriguez (Miami, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami) advanced to his first major senior medal final in the 81kg division as well, but lost fighting for bronze and placed fifth. 

St. Leger’s twin brother Garry (90kg) and Dariusz Mikolajczak (100kg), both teammates at the NYAC and Legrosports Starrett Clubs, fought for bronze as well, but also placed fifth.
