Entry Packet Now Available for USA Judo Senior, Masters and Kata National Championships in Virginia Beach!

“It is always great to host one of our National Championships in such a great and central location to our members from the Northeast region of the country,” said USA Judo Board Member Lance Nading.  “In the past these Championships have been a tremendous success and this year will be no different."

This marks the second time the USA Judo Senior, Masters and Kata National Championships will be held in Virginia Beach after a highly successful event in 2005.

"USA Judo is pleased to return to Virginia Beach and we are very appreciative of the invitation issued by the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau to host our National Championships once again. The financial support as well as manpower support that the Virginia Beach CVB is offering USA Judo is invaluable,” said Dr. Ron Tripp, USA Judo President. 

Featuring senior, masters and kata divisions, this year’s event will be the final selection tournament for athleteslooking to qualify for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Judo, June 13-14 in Las Vegas, Nev.

"This being an Olympic year, the USA Judo Board of Directors has increased the financial support to our referees in order to make sure that we have our best referees attend these National Championships,” said USA Judo Board Member Fletcher Thornton.  “This year's referees support travel budget is $35,000.00 plus other benefits to those working the U.S. Olympic Trials in Las Vegas and Pan American Championships in Miami. We are pleased to announce that this is a significant increase in referee support from previous years."

Rooms are now available to be booked at the Doubletree.  Located next to the Virginia Beach Convention Center, the competition venue, the Doubletree is located minutes from the beach.

Participants booking on the internet should enter the code “JSN” in the Group / Convention field to ensure that they receive the discounted rate.

The room rate is available from April 7-13.  The Nationals will be held April 11-12 with USA Judo meetings held from April 9-10 at the Doubletree.

The cut-off for the discounted room block is March 8, so book early to guarantee your reservation at the tournament host hotel!
