European Tour Kicks Off This Weekend with Cohen Brothers Competing in Tbilisi

The first tournament of the 11-stop 2008 World Cup series will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia with two players representing the United States this weekend.

Aaron and RJ Cohen, both of Cohen’s Judo Club in Buffalo Grove, Ill., will be competing at the two-day event with RJ fighting in the73kg division on Saturday and Aaron fighting in the 81kg division on Sunday.

Aaron, a five-time Pan Am medalist, won his first major European medal in 2007 when he placed second at the B-Level Swiss Open in Lucerne, Switzerland. 

RJ, a three-time Senior National medalist, is making his first World Cup appearance in recent years.

The Tbilisi World Cup is a men’s only event with the 60kg, 66kg and 73kg divisions being contested on Saturday and the 81kg, 90kg, 100kg and +100kg divisions being held on Sunday.
