Miami Judo World Cup Attracts Record Number of Countries
In just 2 more weeks, Miami will be hosting what we think will be the largest of the Judo World Cups in the Americas and definitely the most competitive and prestigious Judo International competition ever to be held in the United States.
Over 50 countries have already sent preliminary entries for the July 1st and 2nd World Cup taking place in one of most beautiful resorts in South Florida, the Doral Country Club and Spa Marriott, located but 10 minutes from Miami Airport. The Marriott will be both host hotel for the attending delegations as well as the competition in the luxurious Legends Ballroom. Athletes will be able to walk to practice, dinner, and the competition venue, as the entire event sits smack in the middle of one of the most recognized golf courses, the Doral Blue Monster. There are very few competitions, World Cups or other A Level events that are held in this sort of upscale setting. Top world ranked countries sending a delegation to the World Cup include, China, Korea, France, Russia, Brazil, Ukraine, Romania, Spain, Israel, Algeria, Argentina, Canada, United States and many, many more.
On Sunday, the US Open will be held, featuring not only many of the same athletes who competed in the World Cup, but also Paralympic competition. The USA Judo Paralympic National Team as well as teams from Venezuela, Switzerland, Canada and many other Paralympic athletes from around the World will participate.
Tickets will be on sale on a first come first serve basis (the venue is small and there are only 700 seats available per day) at the door, or those wishing to guarantee their tickets may do so by contacting Melinda Navarro at Melindanavarro@aol.com . Those in South Florida may call the Miami Sports Commission offices (305-818-6885) to purchase your ticket at that office.
There are still 2 VIP 8 person suites available for purchase. Please contact Melinda Navarro for more information.
