Announcing Medal Funds Commitment as well!
January 10, 2012 - The nation’s top contenders for Olympic medals in judo this summer will receive an additional $63,000 in support as they make their final, passionate drive toward that pinnacle sporting event, USA Judo CEO Jose Humberto Rodriguez announced.
The athletes will receive this money in addition to any other stipends they currently get from USA Judo and the US Olympic Committee, dramatically improving their ability to focus on training and preparation.
"We are very proud of what our athletes continue to accomplish to get ready for these London Games, and we hope that by adding this extra financial support that they will be able to further concentrate on the business at hand, which is to win medals for the United States." said Lance Nading, President of USA Judo.
The extra support, provided through a grant by the American Judo Fund, will be distributed to USA Judo’s top medal prospects on a monthly basis as follows:

These funds are in addition to other monthly stipends and support that they receive from USA Judo and the United States Olympic Committee for their preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. These funds will be available to these athletes through July 2012 or up to that point that they are preparing for the Olympic Games competition.
"These athletes have traveled extensively over the past three years to get themselves where they are today; in a position to qualify for the Olympic Games! This financial support is well deserved." said Ed Liddie, Director of Athlete High Performance.
USA Judo also announced that that prize money has been earmarked for its athletes climbing the podium at other, future elite tournaments including World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games. These prizes will be:
