Personal: At the age of five, Turner first began to love the sport of Judo. Born and raised in Miami, judo was the sport of choice within the Turner household; both his brother and sister were avid competitors who excelled in judo from a very young age. By age 10 Turner had won gold at the Junior National Championships.

Judo came naturally to Turner. Throughout the course of his upbringing, judo stayed at the forefront. By his teenaged years, Turner had been molded into a star athlete, not only in judo but in football as well.

In 2000, Turner made his first judo podium appearance with a big win at the National Championships in the Open division. In 2004, he attended the Olympic Games in Athens as a spectator.  The 2004 Games provided the proper motivation for him to be where he is today a 2008 Olympic hopeful.

Turner has always been a competitor to watch in the heavyweight division, finishing well in both domestic and international competitions, including a bronze medal finish at the 2001 Pan American Championships. However, October 2005 marked an important year when he made an international audience take notice by becoming the only American male to win gold at the U.S. Open. Through the assistance of world renowned fitness expert Juan Carlos Santana, Anthony continues to be one of the best conditioned-heavyweights in the nation and looks forward to a successful future and the Olympic Games.
