Rousey, Gotay and Reser Earn Top 10 World Rankings

Three of the best players in the United States were recognized for their international achievements by the European Judo Union who ranked each of the U.S. players in the top 10 of the Oct. 1 World Rankings.

Ronda Rousey (Wakefield, Mass. / USA Judo National Team FORCE / NYAC) is the #4-ranked player in the 70kg division following her silver medal win at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro in September.  Rousey also received critical points for winning the Vienna World Cup in February and placing third at the Pan American Championships in May.

Valerie Gotay (Harlingen, Texas / USA Judo National Training Site at Harlingen) moved up to the #6 ranking in the 57kg division.  Gotay moved up from her previous ranking of #9 after she placed third on Sept. 28 at the Rotterdam Super World Cup.  Gotay also holds a high ranking due to her gold medal win at the Pan Am Championships in May as well as placings at the 2006 Pan Ams and several World Cup events.

Ryan Reser (Colorado Springs, Colo. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Olympic Training Center) also has been ranked in the top 10 since winning the Pan Am Championships in May.  Currently holding a #9 ranking, Reser also earned points for winning back-to-back silver medals at the 2006 Boras and Rotterdam World Cups.
