Junior Point Tournament Announcements
Ocean State International
Athletes placing in the top three of the junior divisions at the Ocean State International will receive points on the age-appropriate USA Judo Junior Elite National Roster beginning with the 2008 tournament being held the first weekend of March (date TBA) in Providence, R.I. Athletes will receive two points for first place, one point for second place and 0.5 points for third place.
Puerto Rico National Championships and Copa Gigante
Effective immediately, junior athletes will no longer be eligible to receive points on the USA Judo Junior Elite National Rosters for placing at either the Puerto Rico National Championships or the Copa Gigante International.
HOW do you earn points?
Points are earned by placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd place (and in some cases, 5th) at various events. Each event is graded by a degree of difficulty. This process determines what multiple of the 5, 3, 2 point configuration that is used at the Junior National events featured above, will apply. The listing below, along with the featured matrix, clearly illustrates the points.
The difficulty factor listed below indicates a “Difficulty Factor”, or multiplier. For example an athlete who places 1st at an A event will earn 15 points (Multipliers of 3 x 5 points) Points for Class D events are applied at a reduced level, as listed below.
Ties on the roster will be broken according to the Junior Tie Break Criteria.
