An open letter to the members of USA Judo
Throughout the entire year you give of your time, energy,
and money to help Judo athletes by teaching classes, conducting
clinics, officiating competitions, transporting athletes,
attending the boring meetings, and much, much more. Your dedication
is what keeps the sport of Judo alive and moving forward.
Yes, there is some personal satisfaction from being know as
a black belt, a certified referee, coach, or manager, but
very few people would make the contributions you keep making
without compensation. You receive very little thanks for all
your hard work, but you keep doing it because you believe
in the benefits the participants receive.
Now we’re going to ask you to give a little
more. So many athletes have been helped during the
past few years by receiving financial assistance for their
college expenses. We receive letters all the time telling
us how much the support has meant to be an athlete. We also
hear from individuals who were competitors years ago that
wished this assistance had been available when they were competing.
Now you have an opportunity to make a difference!
Every week we receive requests from many worthwhile non-profit
organizations asking for donations. Some of them tell us “Out
of every dollar you donate, 80 cents goes directly to services
benefiting our cause.” That’s the best case. We
had a member considering making a donation to his alma mater
and he found out only 10% went directly to the cause. Well,
in our cause – USA Judo Athletes – one hundred
percent (100%) of the amount given for Life Member dues goes
to benefit our athletes. None of the money is used for fund
raising, administration or banquets. It’s all
invested and only the interest and dividends are used for
scholarships. It’s the best, safest investment
you can make.
If you are not a Life Member, start today. You don’t
have to write a check for the entire $500.00. Just start with
$75.00 and send as little as $25.00 - $50.00 each month. It
will mean so much to the athletes who really need your help.
Many of you are already Life Members. For that we thank you
and we ask that you sponsor and enroll new Life Members. We
are counting on you. With people like you helping,
we can really become #1 in the world of Judo.

a check today. You can become, or help someone become, one
of the first 500 Life Members of USA Judo and provide an athlete
with college assistance at the same time.
