Personal Narrative: Brannon became involved in sports for athletes who are blind and visually impaired as a goalball player before committing to the sport of judo. Brannon had competed in martial arts since the age of eight, but it wasn't until 2003 that he made his mark on the international scene, placing ninth at the International Blind Sports Association World Championships and qualifying an American slot for his weight class at the Athens Paralympic Games.
