Personal: Djamaldin began his judo career in 1997 after being introduced to the sport by his uncle, an Olympic coach for the Russian Judo Team, shortly after moving to the United States from his native Karachaevo-Cherkessia, Russia. Since then, the Metro State senior has trained in Denver and won his first National Championship title at the 2006 USA Judo Senior National Championships in Houston, Texas.
