Texas A&M University Judo hosted its first USA Judo clinic from Feb. 23-26. Forty-five judokas from Texas,
Louisiana and Tennessee attended the four-day clinic led by Dr. Gary Berliner and Pat Burris. Tom Riggs was a special guest clinician on Feb. 25. This technical clinic was geared for those attending the upcoming national events (High School, Collegiate and Senior Nationals). Dr. Berliner, an IJF A Referee, explained the removal of the five-second penalty and red warning area rules are being used in European A-Level events beginning at the Paris Open. Pat Burris went over ne-waza techniques on Friday night and on Saturday the clinic consisted of tachi waza techniques. Sunday's session had both ne-waza and tachi waza. |
